~Winter of 1999, there was Ground-Ups.
Because Shane Edge (Aubrey) and jeremy kennedy were really locked into the beauty of an especially beautiful, especially snowy winter season, and the sprawling feeldom of front wheel drive against the aural backdrop of Tatsuya Yoshida's Ruins.
Not familiar w/ the pirogi sub-genre Zeuhl at that time, nor individually capable of the stamina of trap-kit blitz demonstrated by Yoshida, they combined their percusive roving hoavers, using 2(two) drum kitsand taking the title Ground-Ups coined by edge somewhere in the depths of the spray painted noise basement. Again not entirely on the same level as Ruins, a band-specific lexical style emerged.
Aware that their rolemodel's original lyrics were written in an invented language created by some Austrian band from the 1970's, Kennedy and Edge wasted no time in developing verbal rules on saying words differently, sometimes referred to as "poorly" in the language English, along w/ other simple but steady rules such as the striking out of the word "the". Hence, Ground-Ups, no THE, The, or the, etc.
Having penned their 1st(first) set of loose song forms w/ lyrics largely reflecting on Edge + Kennedy's shared experience as housekeepers at a gruesome hellhole hotel w/ a bunch of old-ass ladies, they were approached a male person in the local punk scene who wished to join on a horn, if horn provided.
This took the weight off Kennedy's trying attempts to add cornet and other noisemakers to the and thus Ground-Ups (ver. One (1.0riginal Flavor) was a trio.

Ground-Ups (ver. One (1.0riginal Flavor):
•Shawn Egg: Drums, Voice, Casio Keyboard
•Kennedy, Jeremy: Drums, Voice
•CornetNotTrumpet: Cornet, Voice

Soon, the group "edited & mixed" a few live recordings, released in 1999 as Oh! It Bites Me! on the house label, the Fuck Me stupid mountain princess recording collective(herein: FMSMPRC™).

In 2000, CornetNotTrumpet stupid-ass was not at several(2) shows, justifying Shan + Kennedy growing desire to kick the motherfucker damn out, leaving the horn.
With quick lightning-like thought, Edge transformed into the All Orange Lake-Dwelling Valeenese Hip-Hop Problem Child, Leonard (aka: Leonard of Valeene), and substituted more Casio keyboard in place of CornetNotTrumpet scowling cornet showings.
This brief period was dangerously fun, verging on bad, and ended the initial contiuous run of Ground-Ups. Though a recording of one the shows from this period was grabbed on mini-disc by a local show-goer, it was deemed awfully bad by the group. Found again in 2012, it was still deemed awfully bad, plus on the now almost impossibly playable media format and thus totally tossed. Also, they hated the dude who recorded it, referring to him as “Glasses-Having Goon”.
Soon the OG duo parted ways, w/ Eggedf leaving the Middlewest all together. Both focused on other projects, leaving the Ground-Ups tag in the gay closet, with no further Ground-Ups performances and recordings until they reunited in 2002, ith a new line-up + direction.

Ground-Ups: Ver. -Creep (Negative Creep)
•Shawn Edge (As Leonard of Valeene): Drums, Voice, Casio Keyboard
•Jeremy Kennedy: Drums, Voice

Ground-Ups sparked briefly in 2002 as lead members Evol Slej + J. Kennedy found themselves in the same time zone once again. That being so, the reunion Ă  la sounds would've most likely not have occur if not for the encouragement of fellow sound-maker/bestie, Leah Yeppi.
Yeppi not only advocated as a friend fan, but stepped even further to setup the recording session, which they not only engineered, but also joined as the only(?) none-horn playing member of the group; making for a completely new, wild 2x drum, casio, meets 3x voices, banjo, captured quick & wrapped in a more conceptually accelerated, extended recording/mixing technique. Recorded in 3 daylong sessions in two cities, it was uncertain if this line-up performed live during this period until 4 yrs later when a drunk show-goer avowed seeing them play a basement together in 2002, with that line-up.

Ground-Ups (versions 2) (Drive By Banjo Era):
•Shawn Egg: Drums, Voice, Casio Keyboard
•Kennedy, Jeremy: Drums, Voice
•Leah Yeppi: Banjo, Voice, Casio, Recording Equipment + Effects
